Ben Newell Design
Ben is a Landscaper & Landscape Designer originally from the small Victorian country town of Sea Lake, located 400km north west of Melbourne. Ben began his business with his first commercial landscape project at his primary school in Sea Lake
Ben is now living & running his business in Melbourne, focussing on creating landscapes that are visually aesthetic and elegant, yet practical and long lasting. Ben Newell Design & Landscaping services areas within Melbourne and surrounding areas. Ben has received a Diploma of Landscape Design and a Diploma of Horticulture at Swinburne University, as well as an Associate Degree in Urban Horticulture at Melbourne University, Burnley. Ben also has 8 years Landscape Construction experience working for himself as well as numerous landscape companies in Melbourne.
Ben's Horticultural background has a large influence on the designs we create, which can be seen in many of our projects where plants are the focus, as well as the use of plants in a practical manner and using them creatively to be a focal point in many landscapes. We pride ourselves in creating a diverse range of garden designs, spanning from densely planted Native Australian Garden styles to more modern contemporary designs, consisting of more structural and symmetrical elements within the landscape.
Ben has had two displays in the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. His first display was in the 2015 Garden Show, where his "The Crossroads" design was built in the student Achievable Garden section, supported by Swinburne University. Ben's latest display was in the 2017 Garden Show, where his "Native Influence" design was selected as 1 of 5 finalists in Landscape Victoria's Boutique Garden Competition.
In 2016 Ben travelled to Huis Ten Bosch, Japan, to assist with the construction of 2 show gardens designed by fellow Landscape Designers, Paal Grant from Paal Grant Designs in Landscaping and Ross Uebergang from Ross U Design and Landscape.
